Testimonial Sabine Widl - Process Technician DTC
I bring development and administration together—and ensure that ideas are transformed into products.
As a process engineer in our Development and Technology Center, I support products on their journey from prototype to pre-series. My role combines commercial acumen with a technical context: I am responsible for cost and order controlling, provide administrative support for the development process, and manage our SDS database—the central documentation system for our development projects. What I particularly value in this role is its versatility. No two days are alike, and that is exactly what keeps the work dynamic.
What impresses me most about collaboration at SCHOTT is the attitude everyone brings to their work. Problems are addressed openly, solutions are developed together—and managers are just as actively involved as the team. Individual strengths are recognized and encouraged, which motivates and strengthens the sense of belonging. A colleague once called me the “good soul of the department.” That made me happy—because it shows that you are valued not only for your results, but also as a person.
What makes SCHOTT special as an employer for me is the corporate culture. Interactions are familiar without ever being unprofessional. Working relationships foster genuine connections—even outside the office, during joint activities such as weekly bouldering or local events. This is no coincidence, but rather an expression of a culture where people truly matter. I am proud to be part of it.
An environment that fosters the growth of ideas
Ideas need room
At SCHOTT, research is conducted by people who are truly driven to make an impact. A culture of openness and mutual respect provides the foundation for this.
Interdisciplinary is the standard
Chemists, physicists, engineers – at SCHOTT, different disciplines collaborate every day. The result: solutions that none of us could have achieved alone.
Impact that matters
We don't conduct research just to file it away. Our culture combines scientific curiosity with the ambition to drive real change.
