Passivation glass is applied in DIODES, THYRISTORS, IGBTs and MOSFETS as a protective dielectric layer, deposited via doctor blading or spin-on methods, to shield the semiconductor surface from moisture, contaminants, and electrical degradation. Its key advantages include enhanced reliability by reducing leakage currents, improving breakdown voltage, and providing mechanical and thermal stability, ensuring long-term performance in high-power applications like EVs and industrial systems. Compared to alternatives like silicon nitride, passivation glass provides better conformal coverage and thermal stability.
